UNDER THE HEADSET: Stress, Trauma, PTSD, and Resiliency in the Comm Center 9 1 1 Telecommunicators absorb stress and trauma on every shift. These First Responders take 9 1 1 calls and dispatch law enforcement officers to the scene. At times they put officers in harm’s way. They deal with life and death situations and traumatic events. They never actually see what is going on at the scene, but they hear everything that is going on.
